Thank you to Denise from Generate Fitness for her fantastic and sweaty flow last week!

This week we have Lauren from Yoga Village to lead us through our Sunday morning FREE yoga practice. Can't wait!

Lauren is a “truth seeker”, Reiki Energy Therapist (level 1, 2 & 3) and a dedicated yoga teacher that endeavours to live the art of life. Her interest in learning how to live in a mindful, heart-centred way began at the Sivasoorya Divine School of Yoga in Kerala, India where Lauren rigorously studied under the Tantric Yogi Guru Raviji completing a 200 hour Yoga Alliance hatha teacher training. It was there Lauren uncovered the secret power of yoga and meditation. After India, her yogic journey led her to mystical places such as Egypt and Thailand where she developed a rich understanding of mankind’s spiritual history. Naturally, Lauren began to practice meditation and soon she became a regular Vipassana meditator going on 10 day long retreats in complete silence. After 3 years of teaching yoga Lauren returned to India for her second 200 hour Yoga Alliance teacher training, this time travelling to Mysore to learn the original Vinyasa method. Lauren knows that yoga is an infinite path of discovery and reminds her students to enjoy the journey. She is always excited to connect with new students, from all walks of life, to share in the sweetness of yoga.

HUGE thank you to Monica from Power Yoga Canada for such a fun and challenging class last Sunday!

This week we have Denise from Generate Fitness...

In 2011, she completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program at Yogaspace. She studied Hatha Yoga with Patricia White in the tradition of Vanda Scaravelli, consciously balancing effort and rest. She also studied Vinyasa Yoga with Kathryn Beet, focusing on finding ease in movement with the breath. Since then, she has completed a Restorative Yoga Certificate with Hali Schwartz, Yin Yoga with Cathy Kennan and Reiki Master Certificate with Stephanie Norwich. Contrary to popular belief, Yoga is not the practice of being flexible. Yoga is the practice of uniting the mind and the body. It teaches us to be present, to connect with our own thoughts and to realize our own potential. As a student, she is always amazed at how her yoga practice has strengthened her body and provided clarity of mind. She hopes to inspire her students to find that strength, stability and focus.
Denise unrolled her first yoga mat over 10 years ago at a local gym to compliment her fitness routine. After that first Power Yoga class, she was hooked. As her practice developed, she enjoyed the benefits of various intense styles of yoga. Her journey with yoga, suddenly too a sharp turn with a cancer diagnosis in 2008. During her treatment, she began to explore different styles of yoga and other healing modalities to cope with stress and anxiety. She has since developed an interest in gentle and restorative yoga styles and the desire to share her healing journey with others.

If you hang back after class, we have a tasty treat for you...

Toronto based Kombucha company "Yogasoda" will be at Yoga in High Park to give you a probiotic dose of deliciousness post-yoga class.

When we discovered Kombucha, it was love at first taste. We began brewing in our home immediately and started to spread the message to anyone who would listen. After feeling the benefits of drinking Kombucha on a regular basis, we are determined to share it with the world, and that is when we began our idea for YogaSoda.

Yoga is the union of mind, body and spirit. By nourishing our bodies with natural drinks like Kombucha, we bring ourselves closer to that alignment. YogaSoda is a union - a union of good taste and good health. Cheers to your health!

 Namaste

 YogaSoda Sisters,

Jelena & Masa
